Title: SQL Server DBA
The Database Administrator’s role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.
This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.
Executes the day-to-day administration of Oracle database environments; interacts with various technology teams regarding work requests submitted; participates in the creation of new policies, procedures, projects and processes.
Participates in all aspects of the lifecycle for database environments- Provides technical support of database environments/applications, including software installation, database creation, upgrades, patching, decommissioning, problem diagnosis, performance monitoring, database maintenance, process automation, evaluation, and tuning recommendations, develops, implements and support backup/restore, disaster recovery and data replication procedures and exercises.
Participates in the implementation of application requested database code and configuration changes in supported Oracle database environments with production done outside of business hours.
Evaluates, documents, and recommends database-related software products within technical architecture framework Provide database technical support of and 3rd party developed Oracle databases and database environments; including software installation, upgrades, problem diagnosis, performance monitoring, evaluation and tuning recommendations
Skills: Senior technical skills (5+ years) with Oracle 10g, 11g, 12c. Strong working experience working with Unix/Linux and Windows environments; include proficiency with Unix and Windows Power shell scripting, PERL and PL/SQL programming languages, SQL Query tuning, System level monitoring and tuning.
Experience in administering large databases in a complex enterprise environments, e.g. Oracle databases larger than 500 GB. Expertise in Oracle database performance tuning and troubleshooting
Knowledge of Oracle database replication, standby and Data Guard, RMAN, Advanced Networking and security options, handling BLOB objects, support of Partitioning and Oracle Text database administration, OID Strong interpersonal skills, must be a team player with the ability to easily and effectively interact with technical, non-technical, support, and business staff at all levels. Ability to work collaboratively with people from other technical and support departments such as system administration, network support, technical support, operations, QA, etc. Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences. Expected to provide off-hours support at night or on weekends when required. Expected to be on call in case of emergencies. Be a self-starter and self-motivated with a proven ability to learn new software and technologies rapidly; ability to be proactive and to able to manage own projects efficiently for on-time delivery. Experience and capability of working in a fast-paced environments including Production efficiently. Strong process management skills with ability to handle mid to large projects. Knowledge and experience of data modeling PostgreSQL, other Open Source database and SQL Server is a plus
