    ​Release Manager is accountable for the overall release deployment into all environments (non-Prod/Prod) and performs the day-to-day operational and managerial tasks demanded by the process activities. Accountable for planning and working with various release stakeholders to establish the plan, design, build, configure, test and deploy release package (software and hardware).Manage all aspects of the end-to-end Release and Deployment process.

    The Release Manager/Coordinator has full accountability for the following activities, though they will to be executed by release teams:

    Identify the relevant stakeholders required during each phase of release & develop and document a complete proposed schedule for the final deliverables and completion of milestones of the Release

    Consult with US & Global architecture if the environments are ready to accept the release.

    Develop awareness of the release, business benefits, release plan and dates to enable readiness for deploying the release.

    Share detailed information (including all CR’s, defects, unplanned fixes/changes, document links, test results) with  teams to ensure smooth deployment of release in all the environments.

    Ensure approvals are in place prior to including the changes into the Release plan.

    Release Package testing in Global landscape and up to Regional QA environment (excluding local configurations).

    Ensure status of tickets are aligned with the current state of the Release.

    Ensure performance testing, UAT, staging environments match US and Global configurations properly.

    Coordinate installation of new or upgraded hardware. Ensure that release teams and external suppliers (contractors and vendors) follow the organization’s established policies and procedures for Release Management.

    Ensure and promote the use of the Release Management process.

    Identify improvement opportunities to ensure the process and tools are effective and efficient.

    Escalate to leads in case of a conflict between Process and Line Management and if procedures are not being followed.

    Analyze the documented results of all product, process, and post implementation reviews.

    Based on the analysis, incorporate the lessons learnt in the current release plan.

    Maintain a real time dashboard of all releases/changes by environment.

    Manage the communication plan for outages.

    Provide prompt communication to the stakeholders during and after completion of deployments.

    Strong negotiation and communication skills

    Process and document oriented to easily provide artifacts for any audits

    Skills:

    Strong leadership ability is required. Typically requires field work in overseeing releases

    • Advance professional with ability to apply concepts, practices & procedures • Works with minimal direction and able to lead and train others • High level of expertise in required skill set • For emerging skill sets, years of experience may matter less than depth of knowledge & expertise but traditionally may have 5-10 years of experience

    The release manager will work to drive seamless software deployment to multiple environments. While the release manager may or may not have supervisory responsibility, this person will have to work through many others in the organization to succeed.
