Title: Business Continuity Plan Manager
Position Overview
Business Continuity Management (BCM) is to ensure an effective enterprise-wide Business Continuity Management governance framework consistent with general regulatory requirements and industry best practices/standards is developed, maintained and adhered to across the organization.
The Manager of Business Continuity Planning ensures that an auditable governance framework, consistent with regulatory requirements for BCM in which the organization operates is developed, maintained, and adhered to across the Enterprise.
Scope of Role & Responsibilities
Identify risks to Operations Core Services and completion of recovery strategies as required by applicable regulatory and legal entities. Develops projects and programs to improve resiliency efforts and ensure compliance. Contributes to the evaluation of testing protocols each year in response to changes in location strategies and concentration levels.
Drive cross-functional efforts to promote a strong Business Continuity & Recovery culture throughout the organization.
Develop recovery playbooks for Business Operations.
Build a BCP program, including the related strategy, standards, and technology, that aligns to industry standards.
BCP program.
Conduct risk-based assessments to identify gaps and develop related policies and procedures.
Manage responses to business disruption events, serving as the key point person for leadership.
Partner with Technology teams and other business leaders to ensure resiliency and recovery for essential processes; with department leaders to coordinate business impact analyses and business continuity plans.
Audit and improve continuity plans, build and deploy testing programs to assess resiliency of processes and technology.
Manage of a team of professionals who work with senior management in all lines of business to coordinate business continuity governance activities.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the enterprise-wide business continuity management program including:
development of tools and instructional guides for both business continuity planning and event management
develop and facilitate enterprise wide event exercises
Maintain program processes and practices which effectively ensure that the enterprise program remains current
Incorporates/aligns with industry standards and practices as appropriate, and adequately covers general regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and NYSDFS
Keeps abreast of industry best practices and trends
Provide 7/24 event management and on-call support
Required Education, Training & Professional Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management or related field, required. Master’s degree is preferred.
10 years of progressive responsibility in a related field
Experience managing and developing staff
Working knowledge of best practices for business continuity, recovery, and resiliency
Industry standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001)
Experience communicating risks to executive leadership.
Experience partnering with different types of roles, including technologists, building management, business management
Experience deconstructing workflows to understand inputs, outputs, and impacts
Proficiencies:
Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint, required
Mass notification tools
Project management methodology
Licensure and/or Certification Required
DRII, CBCP or similar accreditation, preferred
