    ​Candidate must sit in Chicago
    Rotational on call once every 3 or 4 weeks or so
    Contract to hire

    Candidate will be focusing on the application support side, must be familiar with supporting Java applications but also have experience in a Linux environment.
    Must be someone with the ability to learn quickly and be a self-starter – who is eager to learn and grow.

    • Monitor, maintain and support client facing applications as well as internal enterprise systems
    • Troubleshoot, research and resolve issues in systems functions
    • Monitoring applications and system health via alert monitoring tools and provide quick response to alerts escalations and all outages
    • Investigation and gathering application logs for incidents and escalating to high level engineers if needed
    • Work with System Engineers, Developers, Quality Assurance Engineers and Architects to provide technical solutions to application issues
    • Eliminate toil and improve stability by standardizing and automating operational processes/procedures
    • Perform routine maintenance on application servers and track system performance
    • Provide outage and service restoration details to Operations Command Center root cause analysis
    • Engage fellow engineers to share best practices, lessons learned, or other technical findings of interest to the engineering team

    Preferred Skills, Education, Experience:
    3-5 years of experience in a technical environment
    Experience in Linux in RHEL 6.5 or above.
    Experience with application support in the following languages and frameworks such as Java, Spring and RESTful web services
    Experience with platform as a service and container technologies like Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), Openshift, Kubernetes, Docker
    Experience in Perl, Python and Bash Shell Scripting
    Experience in troubleshooting LAMP stack issues
    Knowledge of IP networking including TCP, UDP, DNS, firewalls, IP routing
    Experience with Atlassian Tool Stack (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and it role in agile development methodologies
    Familiarity with SQL and/or Oracle database environments (simple queries, analyzing logs, administrative tools)
    Ability to work well under pressure in production support situations with limited supervision
    Strong learning curiosity and problem solving skills
    Solid written and verbal communication skills
    Ability to work rotating on call shifts that may include nights and weekend shifts
    Knowledge of distributed systems and messaging architectures
